My Winter favorites...
I live in South Florida so winter doesn't mean much to me down here! However, I'm from Virginia so I am not a stranger to the cold. With that being said...I'll be sharing my Florida winter and actual winter favorites with y'all!
These are my favorite winter bags! The York Buckle tote is also one of my fall faves but fortunately they have it in many colors. I just love the size. If you're a momma like me you need room for lots of stuff. This Street Hayden bag by Kate Spade is absolutely stunning. It's one of my favorite bags. I get so many compliments when I use this gorgeous bag. Again, it offers tons of storage but looks very classy and of course...chic ;) All of the pictures are linked to the websites if you want to get one for yourself!
I LOVE this bag. It offers you the perfect amount of storage for the necessities. If you have kids you'll probably need a tote or backpack in addition to this bag but it's ideal for quick trips to the store or date night. I love how simple and classic it is. It goes with any outfit and you can dress it up or down.
Hunter boots are a key staple for winter in my opinion...more so if you live somewhere where snow is the norm. I love them in black because they go with everything but I also adore them in red. They make any outfit POP. The cool thing about these boots is that they work for all weather...rain or snow. They aren't too hot when it's simply a rainy day in South Florida and you can add some fluffy boot socks when you wear them in the snow. I just bought my daughter her first pair for her upcoming birthday!
Nothing screams fashion quite as simply and beautifully as a Burberry scarf. This is by far one of my favorite closet staples. This one is on the lighter side but as I'm sure you're aware...they offer thicker cashmere scarves as well. The picture says it all ;)
As I'm sure you see...these gloves go hand in hand (literally!) with the previous scarf. I LOVE these gloves because their lining is made up of 100% cashmere and the outside is leather. These ones are great because they have touchscreen-compatible fingertips which is a necessity nowadays.
I don't know about y'all but there's nothing I don't love about a good cashmere sweater. I live in South Florida and I still wear mine every once in awhile. I love how soft and cozy they are. This is a great one. I love J.Crew and it didn't surprise me when I found affordable and comfortable cashmere sweaters available from this fabulous brand.
The first pictures pants are the Zella 'Live In' leggings and they are fabulous. I love how comfortable they are easily dressed up with a nice pair of boots and a pretty blouse. They are also perfect for everyday "mom wear." The second, third and fourth are TopShop jeans from Nordstrom. These jeans are great because they are incredible quality but don't break the bank like some jeans tend to do. Just like the leggings, these jeans can easily be dressed up as well. One of the many perks of layering during winter time is how easy it is to dress clothing that is normally casual up.
People constantly ask me..."What are you all dressed up for?" Honestly, wearing a dress is easiest for me. You grab a dress out of your closet, slip it on and call it a day. No matching of clothing, finding accessories etc. is needed. There's nothing like a warm and comfortable sweater dress during winter. Also, sweater dresses are normally very flattering. I wore a floor mid-calf length bodycon sweater dress with some knee high boots while I was in Virginia and I'm not going to lie...I looked better than I had in quite some time. They really highlight your curves. Another lovely thing about them is they look good with heels, boots or booties. I LOVE options! :)
These are my favorite closed-toe shoes. The Rockstud pumps by Valentino always add classic beauty to any outfit. During winter I would say the black and burgundy Rockstud pumps are my favorites. Moms need comfortable shoes and most momma bears CANNOT wear heels all the time. I am one of them! The Tory Burch 'Travel Minnie Ballet Flats' are perfect for moms like me. They are classy and available in a vast variety of colors. My favorite are the black but I love that there are so many options available. They are very very comfortable! I love love love a good bootie. I think I wore this pair of booties more than anything else when I was in Virginia. They are ridiculously comfortable, add enough heel to add a sexy appeal and keep your feet nice and warm. Last but certainly not least are the 'So Kate Pumps' by Christian Louboutin. These pumps in red SCREAM winter to me. When I think of winter I think of the contrast of snow and red. These pumps are timeless and perfect for special occasions and Holiday parties.
As far as I am concerned the two things that should "pop" the most are your lips and your shoes. Red lips are so simple, classic and stunning. I have porcelain like skin so red lips look good on me. Another color that I like during winter is a dark dark purple or burgundy. I prefer red on myself but that's another color that I think looks great during this time of year.
Another high "pop factor" in my opinion is your nail color. I normally have french nails but during winter I love the look of red nails to go with my red bag, red heels and red lips. Chanel makes my favorite nail polish. It lasts for a long time and the gel top coat is fantastic. It's the same quality as the gel polish that OPI makes but it's just a regular top coat.
The rest of my makeup is the same as listed under my fall favorites. my go-to look is the smoky eye regardless what time of year it is. what are your favorite winter outfits, accessories and beauty items? share them with us! :)
Fall is finally here and I'm going to share some of my fall favorites with y'all.
My favorite fall bag would have to be the York Buckle Tote in the color luggage from Tory Burch. If you sign up for their e-mails you will receive a 10% coupon! I love browns for accessories! Keeping that in mind, my favorite fall shoe is the 'Desert" Wedge Bootie from TOMS and I purchase mine in Taupe Suede here.
My favorite blouse has always been and will more than likely always be the Slim Fit Convertible Sleeve Portifino shirt from Express. It's so comfortable and looks cute and professional. Not to mention, it's available in a vast variety of colors and patterns. For fall, I'd suggest that you go with rose blush or light pink.
Pants! You can't forget pants. Express has a pair of super comfortable and professional looking leggings that can be found here but if you're looking for a more casual look then I'd go for a nice pair of jeans. I personally get my jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch because they are the only jeans that fit perfectly. I am 4'11", slim and curvy and their jeans are the only ones that fit just right. Honestly, I wear their jean leggings and they look great. They are way more comfortable than standard jeans and are normally half the price as well. My absolute favorite pair can be found here. You won't regret this purchase so long as they work for you and your shape. For me, they are so incredibly comfortable and surprisingly flattering. I dress them up with a Portifino and some desert wedges and call it a day.
Now on to fall makeup! Summer is exciting because you can play with lots of colors but fall is my favorite because I love the smokey eye look. Before applying any eye makeup, I use Urban Decay's Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I use the Naked 2 palette for my eyeshadow. They also have a smokey eye palette but I find that when I use the Naked 2 for my smokey eye, it is more subtle and not too overwhelming.
Fall is my favorite time of year for lipstick! You can use lots of dark colors and not get dirty looks. My go to lipsticks for fall are the Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Color lipsticks in #438 and #456. I get chapped lips during the fall and winter time and this is the only lipstick that has worked for me without needed a balm underneath.
Everyone is always telling me how perfect my eyebrows look all the time. This is thanks to, Anastasia Beverly Hills, of course! I use the Brow Wiz in dark brown and sometimes ebony depending on my mood and hair color. I also use the Dipbrow Pomade in the same colors. After applying both the Brow Wiz and Dipbrown Pomade, I apply a coat of the Clear Brow Gel. I only recently started applying the Clear Brow Gel and let me tell you...it's amazing! If I didn't take my makeup every night my eyebrows would probably look flawless for days. This is also thanks to my setting spray. I use Urban Decay's All Nighter and no other spray I've tried has worked half as well.
Oops! Almost forgot about my actual face. I use Mac's Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion on my face before I apply anything else. I then apply my concealer to the needed areas. I apply Anastasia Beverly Hills' concealer using Chanel's Pinceau Correcteur Concealer Brush #10. I then apply my foundation which is the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation which has SPF 15 protection. If I'm going somewhere fancy, I highlight my face. This definitely isn't an every day thing for me. When I do highlight my face, I use the Contour Cream Kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I tried their powder contour kit and I hated it. The cream kit is the only one that's worked for me. Everyone is different though. I have two separate beauty blenders for my foundation and highlighting. The two pack including the cleaner is the best deal in my opinion as I use two blender and the cleaner also works great for brushes.
Let me hop back to my eyes real quick because I completely forgot about eye liner and mascara. My go to mascara is Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced. I've used many mascaras in my day and this one is by far my favorite. It lasts a long time and I can see an extreme difference between my naked eyelashes and when I'm wearing this. Eyeliner! I don't know about you guys but nothing is sexier than a good application of eyeliner. It takes concentration and lots of practice but it's definitely doable. I use Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in black. I believe that my brush is just an eyeliner brush from Sephora.
Back to my face again! Sorry :P After highlighting my face and before applying my setting spray, I apply blush and or bronzer. I use Chanel's Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour bronzer in the #50 which again has the SPF 15 which is important. I rarely use blush but when I do, I use Chanel's Joues Contraste Powder Blush in #72. This color is great because it gives you a nice rosy cheek without going overboard.
WOW! I didn't realize how much makeup I put on my face until I typed this. Clearly, I have an addiction. Makeup is a form of art and being the artistic person that I am...I enjoy it. Please keep in mind that I work at home and I'm a stay at home mom so most days I don't wear any makeup at all. ;) In conclusion, fall is upon us so seize the opportunity to bust out those dark, sexy shades. Share your fall favorites with me! <3
